This newly created 12-month, full-time position requires a creative individual that will report directly to the assistant commissioner of communications, media and technology whose primary focus will be on digital content creation and assisting in the management of the Summit League’s social media accounts.

Additional duties include assisting with day-to-day communications tasks, championship preparation and on-site support at various league events. Preferred applicants will have 2-3 years of post-graduate experience in a collegiate or professional sports setting working in these specific areas.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Creating, managing, and executing a digital content strategy in conjunction with the communications staff for the Summit League and its 19 championship sports, including weekly video series/updates, championship previews and recaps, special projects and campaigns focusing on educational topics such as diversity and inclusion, mental health, NIL and Title IX.
• Serving as a liaison and working closely with member institutions’ video and creative services departments and the Summit League’s television partners to enhance the league’s brand through innovative and engaging digital content creation.
• Producing highlight and interview packages, behind-the-scenes features, public service announcements, championship previews and recaps and profiles of student-athletes, coaches, and administrators throughout the calendar year for use on the league’s official website and social media accounts and by league partners and outlets.
• Assisting with the coordination and overall execution of the annual Summit League Basketball Media Day event (held either virtually or in-person).
• Assisting the commissioner, or department of communications, media and technology in other duties as assigned to help complete day-to-day and championship-related tasks.

Additional Info:
• Travel to the Summit League’s championship events will be required along with the ability to work long hours, including days, nights, and weekends.
• This is a 12-month, full-time position with an annual salary range based on previous work experience plus a benefits package that includes medical and dental plans along with a retirement plan through TIAA-CREF.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e., video production, communications, graphic design, marketing) is required and 1-3 years of experience working within a similar field in a collegiate or professional sports setting is preferred.

Experience / Skills


Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Highly skilled in video editing software with an advanced understanding of social media and video trends and technologies with the ability to fully produce high-quality videos.
• Proficiency in using social media and video platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat.
• Familiarity in graphic design utilizing Adobe products including InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro and After Effects.
• Familiarity with website management and working within a content management system.
•Strong communication, interpersonal, interview and organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a team environment and work efficiently in small group settings.
